Designing your trip

Designing your trip is almost as much fun as taking it.

  • You may give us a few general ideas and  we'll take it from there and develop a detailed proposal for you, or...

  • You may get as deeply involved in the design process with us as you wish

You may review the detailed itinerary we design for you and have us tweak it as much as you like to get it just right. Consider the following pointers and have fun planning.....

  • Ask us all the questions you want

We are here to listen. Please ask us all the questions you have and question us as often as you like to get the answers you need and help you clarify your ideas for your trip. You may also find it useful to browse our Frequently Asked Questions.
  • Be inspired by our sample itineraries

On our Walk and Drive and Inn to Inn Without a Car pages we present a series of custom itineraries we've designed and arranged for other clients. Browse these itineraries for information and inspiration and let us know your thoughts. We can use segments of any of these itineraries in any variation to suit your personal preferences. If an itinerary generally appeals as it is, we can also arrange your trip along the same lines.
  • Define your walking preferences

Have a clear idea of what sort of walking you would like to do. How many miles per day would you like to walk on average? Would you prefer easy, moderate, or challenging walks? Would you like any rest days in your itinerary? Would you prefer to drive to great trailheads and take circular walks or would you prefer walking inn to inn, village to village, the old fashioned way.
  • Choose Walk and Drive or Inn to Inn Without a Car option

To provide the widest range of possibilities for engaging with Provence we offer two options for getting around. On our Walk and Drive trips you have a car, drive to great trailheads for circular walks, and after your walk explore Provence far and wide in your car. On our Inn to Inn Without a Car trips you walk from inn to inn, village to village in the traditional manner and engage more deeply with your immediate environment - slow travel at its best. Browse both options and let us know what you think.
  • Decide where in Provence you would like to walk

You may already have strong preferences for areas of Provence in which you would like to walk. See our sample itineraries and maps for inspiration, and seek our counsel, too.
  • Decide what type of accommodation you prefer

We have a wide range of accommodations available in Classic, Superior and Deluxe categories and you can mix categories to your liking. See Where You'll Stay for more information.
  • Consider off-trail activities, experiences, and culinary options

Some walkers have specific plans for off trail activities and experiences. Others rely more heavily on our advice. If you have any specific interests such as particular restaurants or dining experiences, Provencal markets, a half day or day long cooking school, wine tasting, collecting santons, seeing specific historic sites, kayaking under the Pont du Gard, musical interests, ballooning, walking with a donkey, let us know. We also provide comprehensive information and suggestions of our own.

We provide a lot of assistance in making your dining arrangements. We provide detailed restaurant/bistro information and specific restaurant/bistro recommendations for every day of your trip and if you like we also make the reservations for you (a popular feature). Just let us know the culinary experiences and preferences you have in mind and we'll do the rest.
  • Review the detailed itinerary we custom design for you until it is just right

Before we finalize your detailed itinerary you may revise it as much as you like to get it just right.
