Rise just before sunrise and head out on a short, vigorous walk to get into position for a superb portrait of the Uzes skyline in the early morning sun. As the light hardens, stroll back to town for a cafe breakfast and spend the rest of the morning shooting the action at the Uzes market in the market square's even, indirect light. In the afternoon embark on a historic walk from the Pont du Gard, the monumental Roman aqueduct built by Agrippa, Augustus Caesar's favorite engineering general. Arrive back at the Pont du Gard as the setting sun turns it gold for the shot of the day. |

One of the world's premiere international photo events, the Arles Photo Festival runs the gamut from the best of global photojournalism to fine art photography. It is held every year in Arles, one of Provence's best preserved historic towns on the banks of the Rhone, from early July through mid-September with an intense period of presentations and events in the first two weeks.
